Obama Approval Index

When tracking President Obamaís job approval on a daily basis, people sometimes get so caught up in the day-to-day fluctuations that they miss the bigger picture. To look at the longer-term trends, Rasmussen Reports compiles the numbers on a full-month basis, and the results can be seen in the graphics below.

The number of voters who Strongly Disapprove of the presidentís performance inched up a point to 43% in July. At the same time, the number who Strongly Approve remained steady at 26%.

Those figures generate a full month Presidential Approval Index rating of -17, down one from the month before.  Thatís the second straight month the presidentís ratings have fallen to a new low. Prior to that, the ratings had been stable at -14 or -15 ratings for five of the last six preceding months.

The full month numbers show Strong Approval from 52% of Democrats with Strong Disapproval from 74% of Republicans and 48% of unaffiliated voters.
