Taser Report du Jour

According to police, 25-year-old Alexander Wade robbed a 37-year-old woman on a street in Southwest Philadelphia at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, reports the Daily News. Wade allegedly took $150 from the woman and then repeatedly pistol-whipped her and slammed her head against a near-by house, police say.

After Wade ran away, the victim ran to a friend’s house and called police. Police officers in the area heard the call go out with Wade’s description and saw Wade walking on Glenmore Street near 65ths Street.

Police chased Wade into an abandoned house, where he did fail to comply and reacted violently to the officer’s tasering attempt.

The suspect grabbed the Taser out of an officer’s hand and shocked two other policemen with their own weapon, according to police.

The switch-up didn’t last long. The officer who lost his Taser to the alleged robber, grabbed another cop’s Taser and shocked the suspect until he was subdued, police told the Daily News.

Wade was arrested on charges of robbery, assault, reckless endangerment, and others. He was brought to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for treatment, police say.

The woman who Wade allegedly pistol-whipped was brought to the same hospital for treatment.
